he and she met for the first time in their lives.
the place was a hotel room.
he was sitting on the bed. she was sitting at the dressing table.
he was 15. she was 20.

nope, it was not an indecent transaction. it was during the preparations for a wedding dinner.

he wondered why he has never seen her before this and thought that she was quite pretty.
she noted his presence but didn’t think much. he was so young.

he and she never spoke a word.

18th July 2002 Thursday early morning
he and she met for the second time in their lives.
the place was changi hospital.
she was leaning against the corridor of the patients’ ward.
he was sitting on the floor of the other side of the corridor, with a sling back and a basketball.
they were introduced and smiled at each other.
he was 17. she was 22.

18th July to 23rd July 2002
he and she saw each other every day.
the place was a void deck in bedok.
he talked to her. cautiously at first.
she responded, encouraging him.
he asked her what drink would she like and brought her a packet of yeos’ red dates & longan drink.

he asked her whether she has a boyfriend. she says no and he didn’t believe it.
she told him she will be having dinner with a friend and he was unhappy when he found out that it was a guy.
she saw him looking tired and felt a sense of heartpain for him.
on 22nd, he asked her sister for her phone number.
when she left for home, he messaged her.
amidst the chit-chatting, he asked her again whether she has a boyfriend.
when she reached home, they continued messaging on ICQ.
he expressed interest in her.

27th July 2002
their first date.
she waited for him at the airport.
he appeared in over-sized tank top and jeans.
they talked a lot and then went to tampines for kenny rogers dinner.

4th August 2002
he and she spent the night together.
no, it’s nothing indecent again. they were in the company of many others.
she emphasized to him that she is much older than he is.

*waves* 5 years!

11th August 2002
he saw her with another guy and refused to speak to her much.

14th August 2002
they met up at changi beach.
he said that he is fond of her but was not sure whether to begin a relationship.
she dared him to hold her hand. he refused.
she said that she will have to move on if he didn’t make up his mind.
they went home soon after.
10.30pm – he called her.
“I want us to be together”
that marks the start of their love.

17th August 2002
the day he first held her hand.
they were on a bus, their arms side by side.
shyly, he touched her hand… and finally held it.

19th August 2002
the day they watched their first movie together.
the show was “Unfaithful”

the day they bought their first couple rings.

11th January 2003
the day they watched Jay’s concert together for the first time.

28th January 2003
he turns 18.
they celebrated his birthday together for the first time.
she made breakfast for him for the first time.

18th April 2003
he successfully taught her how to ride a bicycle.

19th May 2003
she turns 23.
they celebrated her birthday together for the first time.

20th June 2003
they travelled out of SG together for the first time to Australia.

14th August 2003
the day they celebrated their 1st year anniversary together.

and then they celebrated their…

3rd anniversary
4th anniversary
5th anniversary

… …

today marks their 6th year anniversary together.

they have come a long way together in these 6 years.
braved many storms, shed many tears, experienced some of the most intense feelings of love, shared endless laughters, dreamt of their future… and many many more.
