met up with my besties jaslyn & jackie for a simple get-together cum birthday celebration. as usual, i was late because my work place is really far from town and i also had to stay late to finish up some work. sorry gals (again)!
the meeting place was the bistro cafe (did i get it right?) at pacific plaza. i have always walked past this restaurant and seen some crowd but never had the chance to try it. by the time i reached about 40 min late, the gals were already halfway through their main course. haha.
i ordered spaghetti & teh halia – my recent craze over ginger milk tea. the food was good – i finished it all!
so yeah, it was the usual catch up on each of our happenings, the usual girly gossiping, the usual aunt agony kinda sessions. lots of wise words (i hope…) and laughter.
then it was present time! the gals got me a cute little garfield soft toy. and he is wearing a raincoat with a letter “K” on it! apparently jackie had a hard time searching for garfield’s wardrobe. haha… thanks sweetie! at first i thought the garfield is jackie’s new pet. jackie rolled her eyes and informed me that the letter is a K, not J! but hey, jackie’s beau’s name starts with a K mah!
they also got me a diamond pendant in the shape of “K”. so lovely! i guess the theme this year is K… and a card as well, and vouchers for pedicure!
frankly, i was kinda overwhelmed… we don’t usually spend so much on each other’s birthday gifts because we reckoned we are all old enough to buy what we want with our own hard-earned money and birthday celebrations are just ways to keep in touch and show that we are still caring for each other. but i guess the gals wanted to make up for not celebrating my birthday for like the past 4 years? thanks gals… and for the record, i have never felt upset about not celebrating – because i know both of you still remember and care, regardless…
so yeah, this year was special and i truly appreciate it.
after dinner we headed to macdonalds to continue our chats. really talked about everything under the sun, from relationships to families to skincare to haircare to gynae stuff to supplements to…. hmm… lots…
gals, i know you will be reading this at some point in time. we have known each other for like 15 years? been through good and bad times together, sometimes closer, sometimes not so… but we have indeed shared many stories, and tears & laughter. obviously as we age, other priorities take over and we are no longer able to confide in one another all the time. but i believe each of us know that deep in our hearts, we will always be the trusted sisters and we will be there for one another always. like how jackie reminded me, we all used to write letters and share our most innerthoughts. we have stopped doing these for a long time. but i wan to assure both of you that you two are still my best sisters and will never be replaced. no matter how busy we are, we are just a phone call away, ok?
thanks my dear pals… and to end off like how jaslyn usually does in her corny manner… and i swear, by the moon and the stars in the sky… i’ll be there…
