it was a really non-eventful day. the weather was bad – it either drizzled or the sun was way too hot (ya, right… go sentosa still complain hot… but i dun like to suntan mah…! =p)
and the thing is… we brought our doggies along… not 2 (ben + jia), not 3 (+ matthew), but 4! dearest brought his grandparent’s dog (ah don) along!
haha… it wasn’t an easy feat tugging 4 uncooperative doggies around! matthew is semi-blind, ah don keeps marking places with his 2 miserable drops of yellow urine, ben keeps walking in all directions tangling up the leash, and jia never leaves my side – she drags her feet clumsily (too fat lar) and kept looking at me every 2 seconds, like she’s afraid i will ditch her.
i was worried the doggies will die from the heat, so i brought mine for a ’swim’. ben was too afraid to touch the water so i had to literally drag him closer to the waves. jia was slightly better, she didn’t run away from the waves but she didn’t venture deep into the water either. they ended up standing along the waves and let the tides drench their bodies. and this jia… is so greedy, she started to drink the salty seawater! *faint*
my ben was really silly too… when we leashed them to a pole so that we can have lunch in peace, i left a bowl of water for ben & jia. when i next turned around to check on them, guess what i saw? ben’s skinny butt sitting right in the water bowl! it was so amusing! at first i thought he had lost his footing and accidentally sat on it. but he remained in that exact position for at least 10 min! why would he do that? to cool his butt? hahaha…
yippee!! in another half hour, dearest is bringing me and the doggies to sentosa! together with alfred, jason and audrey…
my doggies are now frantically barking away because we have leashed them and they know that this means they are going for an excursion!
and we ordered 933 golden pillow curry chicken bun to go along…
yeah yeah yeah!!!

dearest woke me up to have breakfast with alfred and we headed to macdonalds at east coast park.
we had yummy big breakfast and the guys commented on how satisfying and fulfilling the meal was.
maybe they should rename the meal to “happy breakfast”, no?
after breakfast dearest said he wanted to catch soft toys – you know those machine where you slot in $1 and you get a chance to catch one of the little cute teddies? i wasn’t that keen because i suck at it. but when we were walking towards the machines, i saw my favorite bear and i exclaimed so happily… and forced dearest to catch one for me.
and he did! on the very first try!
woohoo…. i clapped my hands in glee… i swear, i’m like a silly gal, so happy with the unexpected present… and right in front of alfred too… haha…

past few days i have been complaining that i didn’t sleep well at night cos my fan has been making little irritating noises. i’m a really light sleeper so i get awaken by the noise a few times a night. i hate interrupted sleep!
and sweet dearest went to get a new fan for me! and now i have like 5 fans at home lor… haha… 5 fans for a 3-room HDB with only 2 occupants. excessive isn’t it. but the new fan is great! it’s really windy and it’s sshhhh…. quiet…
and dearest bought a hairdryer for me too! because on wednesdays when we play badminton and reach home close to 11am and take a shower, i’ll have to sleep around 1230 cos the hair takes time to dry. now with the hairdryer i can sleep earlier!

and i mean the weekend…
i tell you… my dearest has been a gem. again.
he picked me from work on fri and we rushed down to suntec to search for the elusive pair of stockings.
and so he patiently led me through the mad crowd to endless shops and thank god we finally found it.
on sat, dearest picked me up from my place and sent me to the hairdresser and again patiently waited for me while i had my hair washed, cut, blown, cut again and blown again in preparation for the dinner and dance later that night. and needless to say, he also sent me to the hotel.
and so… presenting to you my outfit for dinner and dance 2008:
ok, i know this is not exactly a very flattering picture due to the helmet looking hair (urgh)… but i’m pleased with the outfit and i must share that the whole outfit is sponsored by dearest!

the dinner went well. oh, did i say i was performing? kind of anyway… i had to assist the GM in a magic show. i actually get into a tiny box and the GM slides half a dozen of swords into the box. i didn’t have to do anything but it was pretty fun to be involved in the performance.
this morning (sunday), we went for our usual badminton practice. sweated a lot because dearest make me take care of the back of the court rather than the front which meant that i had to run around more than usual. but it was a great workout.
then we headed for lunch at jalan kayu and then to partyworld for sing song session!!
and i promised myself that we must take some pictures today. and so we happily took out the camera and snapped…. and then… the camera died on us. i have forgotten to charge it after the dinner and dance.
luckily we managed to take 1 picture:
ok… it’s another not so flattering picture and i think dearest will kill me for putting this pic up… but that’s the only picture we have!!

i wrote a pretty long entry earlier about recession blah blah but i decided not to bored the hell out of my friends so i deleted it off.
so to summarize, this recession is starting to look real bad. DBS retrenches 900 staff in both SG & HK. my fren works in DBS and thankfully she is not one of the affected but it has sure brought her morale down.
my company has announced drastic strategic changes in US resulting in closure of facilities and loss of jobs just a few months ago. then a couple of days ago another announcement was made on further downsizing the business in US resulting in further loss of jobs. come next week there will be another announcement for asia pacific and it is anybody’s guess what the announcement will be about.
i think my job is safe. but who knows what will happen in future. good luck to all of us.
on a happier note, we went for a sumptuous crab dinner tonight with sheena, her sister and jackson. wow. her sister is chio lor! haha… very slim but with very good figure…
during dinner jackson shared that they are planning to ballot for the new punggol flats. i’m so happy for them! to me, it’s like a next step, an affirmation of their relationship, a step closer to marriage. yeah yeah yeah!
unfortunately, dearest and i doesn’t seem to be progressing in this aspect. well, i’ll wait… patiently… 
at least we are progressing in other areas, like we are becoming more and more loving! i’m sure my patience will pay off. soon. right, dearest? haha…
didn’t get to see dearest for the whole of yesterday.
and i miss him a lot.
yeah, that’s right. it’s only a day. i know i’m pathetic. haha.

i passed my FTT!
i feel like a pampered little gal today because dearest spent time with me doing mundane things like picking me up from work, bringing me to search for the elusive turtle soup, having lunch with me even though he was not hungry, sending me to take my FTT, helping me to prepare for FTT, picking me up after my FTT, spending time with me before i head off for my company dinner, buying me a pair of shoes for dinner and dance, searching for a pair of stockings with me and finally sending me to the flyer for dinner. tell me, who else can beat that? my lovely dearest.
dinner was good! we had pricey alaskan crab! 1 huge crab cooked in 2 styles (which cost $408!)
and when i reached home i found this waiting for me!

on the right is a heart-warming novel named 妈，亲一下. no prizes for guessing why i ordered this book. it’s a book about how 九把刀 spent his days with his cancer-stricken mum. enough said.
and there’s a free gift! will give it to tracy since she loves mayday more than i do. hehe…

i was startled and amused.

tomorrow is FTT day.
i thought it would be a breeze. there are 690 questions on the website to try. it took me 2 hours to go through half of them. and i answered many questions wrongly.
and so i gave up. not going to sit through another 2 hours to go through another 350 questions.

it was a day of shopping… a tiring one though.
started off at queensway with dearest, sheena & jackson – to replenish our badminton shuttlecocks.
after that, we went to the club 21 bazaar! woohoo… i didn’t anticipate the crowd! we had to queue up to get into the place. and when we got in there, sheena and i were stunned by the mess and crowd. the gals didn’t know where to start and what to look at. but apparently the guys had great fun cos when we saw them like 15 mins later, they had 2 big bags of clothes with them while we had none!
anyway the clothes for ladies are like much older and some of them are still way too expensive after discount! $200 for a skirt – original price $900. wah lau… maybe if $50 i will consider lor…
anyway… between dearest and i, we spent $360. $20 for a plain AX tee, $20 for a dkny kids white shirt, $40 for a erm i dunno what brand skirt and $30 for an AX chiffon skirt. for dearest, his loots are even better! a dkny brief for $10, a CK jacket for $50, a CK canvas shoes for $60, and also a few (i cannot remember lar) AX & CK tees and shirts. really really cheap! i think all more are going for more than 70% discount!
by the time we queued up to pay the sun has set, and dearest and i rushed off to orchard in search for a D&D outfit. the gals in the office have agreed to wear black dresses. dearest patiently shopped with me in hunger, helped me pick out dresses, gave me comments and in the end, we finally found something! and dearest sponsored the dress! yippee… love you dearest…
so there… a day of shopping. satisfying but tiring day.
just came back from a mini but important company event at changi village. took pains to dress up as it was supposed to be a formal event. beside me is a dear colleague turned friend cum sister. well, she’s actually from my department and over the years we have looked out for each other and became close confidantes.
after the event, both of us took a cab home together. the moment i got into the cab, i felt this dull headache creeping up. by the time i reached home, i was feeling really tired. must be that time of the month soon.
but i forced myself to put a week’s worth of clothes into the washing machine for laundry anyway. and then stayed in bed for a nap, feeling feverish. finally, when an hour passed, i went to check on the laundry.
AND FOUND THAT THERE IS AN “dE” ERROR AND THE WASH CYCLE IS STUCK AT A RINSE CYCLE! WITH THE WATER FULL!
ARGH…. ~!@#$%^&*()*^$@#%&(!
so i tried all sorts of methods – turning off the machine, changing the cycle pattern, draining the water from the ‘tube’, taking some clothes out of the machine, etc etc.
AND NOTHING WORKS!
damn. now i’ve just switched off the main power and hope that after 20 mins or so, the toopid washing machine can wake up its idea!
the machine is only a few months old! how can it break down like that???
and what am i going to do with the wet clothes? i don’t feel like hulling them out and wringing them dry, not in my feverish state!

ok ok… i know it’s NOT the durian season now… and that’s why dearest and myself are so crazy over these durians that we are having these few days – they are fabulous tasting ones! during non-durian-season! how cool is that?
over the years, many different kinds of durian breeds have been introduced – from D24 to sultan to XO etc etc. and in recent year or 2, there’s the famous 猫山王 (and its various imitations of course – just the other day we saw a stall selling 毛山王! lol). i’ve tried 猫山王 a few times but i’ve never liked the tast and texture. i enjoy my durians ultra-bitter, ultra-’smelly’ and slightly runny in texture. and the 猫山王 which i have tasted are nothing near what i like.
during the durian season back in july, i found this food blog which introduced the four seasons durian cafe and thought we found a great place for durians even though the prices were pretty steep. but on saturday, we found an even better place! and dearest and i swear that we are only going to buy durians from this place in future!
this durian stall is a modest set-up along east coast road – ah loon and ah teck durian, which is actually also featured in the same blog. however, it didn’t catch my eye previously because the setting of the place isn’t as attractive as four seasons. but upon edward’s raves, dearest and i gave it a try last sat and voila we were totally bought over!
the boss was totally friendly, honest and not pushy. i wanted to buy the D24 because i had bad experiences with 猫山王 and while he did recommend that 猫山王 is better, he didn’t push us to buy it (which is more expensive than D24). but when he heard my explanation about how i found 猫山王 to be too creamy and sweet, he said that his is the authentic breed unlike some stalls and then proceeded to let me try one at no obligation. and i was like WOW! I LIKE! haha… so we bought some back as well.
and my dad loves it too! well, my dad is pretty picky about durians. so when he says he like them, they must be good stuff! and when i told him that he can have all of them, his eyes actually lighted up! haha… and tonight, i smsed him to ask if he would like to have more, he actually said yes and repeated that they are really tasty! haha, sometimes he can be such a kid.
so we went to the stall again earlier and the boss recognized us. we bought 3 猫山王 and 1 D24 (dun buy D24, really not nice. haha) and the boss charged us cheaper than on saturday.
and, to elaborate on the honest part – we requested them to pack the durian in styrofoam boxes and we weren’t paying attention to what they were doing because we were happily chit-chatting with the boss. and the uncle who was packing the durian actually pointed out to the boss that one side of the durian is spoilt. and the boss promptly asked him to open another one for us. i mean, we were not looking, and once the durian is packed, we won’t be able to tell whether it was spoilt or not, so they could have just ignored it but instead they opened another one and didn’t charge us for the good side. i like their honesty and commented so and the boss was very humble and said that honesty is very important to retain customers. i think the boss knows that he has bought us over totally.
wah seh… i think i wrote too much over some small durians. but i’m feel compelled to share with the whole world that there is such a good durian seller in the east, and at cheaper prices too! and with such warm and humble personality too!
now i totally love 猫山王 and is so looking forward to XO when the season is right! if his 猫山王 is fabulous, imagine his XO! yummy yummy!

i’ve been lucky so far and have not encountered any painful heartbreaks (well, not that i’ve never had a broken relationship before but when you don’t love the person much, you can’t really call it a painful heartbreak, right?) so the lyrics doesn’t apply that much to me.
but i was really touched and could actually imagine the heartache that one goes through.
the melody itself isn’t all that sad but it’s catchy enough to draw your attention.
