what i’ve been up to

Filed under: bliss, choo, misc fun — kerensa @ 8:49 pm

i haven’t been blogging much because there’s nothing really interesting in my life except for the rings and date of engagement which i’ve updated in the other blog.

dearest has been very busy with his new career in the real estate industry and the good news is he closed a first deal 2 sundays ago! definitely a very strong morale booster. hope good deals continue to come by. remember, if you have lobangs, must recommend ok…

because he is so busy with work, i try to occupy my time and not bother him. so i’ve made a few new friends! it started with badminton with my colleague’s friends. then we also did karaoke, steamboat, basketball, dinners, pool etc together. and the happiest thing is, even dearest have met most of them a couple of times. i love it when dearest accepts my frens and vice versa!

i’ve also been hooked on buying stuff from US and shipping via vpost. mainly skincare stuff – must take extra care of my skin now that i have freckle-few face! and i’m happy to share that my skin feels and look great now with the vit c, anti-oxidant, sunscreen, apple cider vinegar toner and emu oil that i’m using (on different times and days of course, not altogether!) also ventured into mineral makeup which on the very first time i used it, dearest genuinely commented that i look fab! haha… i’m so going to buy more mineral makeup and brushes soon.

oh, and, i think the best thing is, dearest and i are growing. together, and in a good way (though we are indeed growing in the horizontal way as well). i’m not sure whether it’s a sign or maturity, or that we are getting mentally prepared for marriage, or that we are simply continuing to loving each other. although we do bicker now and then, both of us make extra effort to be sweet to each other and to spend time with each other whenever possible.

like tonight. dearest needed to meet a client but he didn’t want to see me being alone for dinner so he specially made time and had dinner with me. even ordered extra ingredients – my fav sotong for me. and he had this happy look when he sees me finishing the huge bowl of fish soup. and then bought potato chips for me somemore!

little thoughtful things that never fail to warm me. love.

is this a sign?

Filed under: bliss, choo, misc fun — kerensa @ 1:46 pm

attended sherlynn (sheena’s dear sister) and jeffry’s wedding on friday.

when jeffry popped the champagne, dearest caught the champagne cork. effortlessly. it just came to him.
those at our table said jokingly that the next wedding is going to be ours.

ha… is this a sign or what?

dearest is complaining that i’m not blogging much anymore. well, there’s nothing much for me to blog about.

yeah, sherlynn’s wedding was heartwarming and lots of fun (we reached home only around 4am!) but we didn’t take any pictures of our own, so there’s nothing much to blog about. oh, except for the fact that sheena was so busy entertaining the guests, it’s like her own wedding instead. and jackson went around trying to get friends drunk on red wine, so it’s also like his wedding. ha.

yeah, we went to the ronald cheng & william su concert. but can’t blog about it because we didn’t take any pictures.

and, yeah, i had a new haircut. went to a new hairstylist who had quite a bit of attitude. asked me whether i want to get a new hairstyle and i said “anything”. then he gave me a magazine and asked me to pick something i like. i said i didn’t know what’s suitable for me and he picked out 2 styles, and then decided on one for me.

now… the hair looks korean. he almost layered off all my hair and now i have a fluffy head, and miserable strands of hair hanging from the fluff. heh. sometimes i find it trendy, sometimes i find myself looking like an auntie. it’s a thin line.

it’s liverpool’s big match tonight. yippee yeah…

freckle no more… *cross fingers*

so i survived the IPL session. barely…

so jackie and i met at square 2 and went for a leisurely breakfast (read: tai tai!) at hans in velocity.

at 11.30am, we headed for the consultation with Dr Yeak at Singapore Aesthetic Centre. we had to wait for a while before both of us get to see Dr Yeak together. and so we asked her a bunch of questions and she stated our interest and said we could think about it before making another appointment for the specific treatments. she’s not pushy.

but i decided to go for the IPL there and then. i asked Dr Yeak whether i could go out after the treatment or do i have to stay home, because i was intending to meet my boyfriend after. upon hearing the word ‘boyfriend’, Dr Yeak asked: “long term boyfriend or new boyfriend?”. “long ter…”. and she went: “aiyah, long term boyfriend never mind lar. i thought if it was some hot date then you better don’t scare him”. wahahahaha…

then i was brought to the treatment room and jackie had to stay with me to calm me down as i was already thinking of the pain. first the nurse gave me a shower cap to hold my hair away from my face, then she cleanse off my sunblock and powder. a ‘before’ picture was also taken. very quickly after, i requested for numbing cream (chicken!).

10092009050

then it was a short wait for the numbing cream to take effect.

a while later Dr Yeak came back in and tried to reassure me that the pain will be minimal. jackie was asked to leave the room as the machine will generate very bright light. i put on the goggles and Dr Yeak applied some cooling gel and the machine was started.

Beep! Tiak! Ouch!!
Beep! Tiak! *bites teeth* Ouch!
Beep! Tiak! *bites teeth even harder* Ouch Ouch!

it. was. painful.

by the end of the session, i teared half a tear in my left eye. the pain was worse in areas where it’s bony – forehead, chin and especially the cheekbone.

after the IPL was done, Dr Yeak prescribed Tri-Luma for me but i decided to think about it first before buying. cost was one thing ($107, iirc) but what worries me is the side effects from Tri-Luma. so i figured i better do some research first.

then the nurse wiped the cooling gel away and started slabbing some steroid cream to reduce any swelling and redness, followed by cold towels to soothe the face. before i left, she also applied a generous amount of sunblock

a single IPL session cost $300, 3 sessions cost $810 and 5 sessions cost $1280 (all prices are before gst). i decided to take the 5 session package as obviously each session will cost lesser. That’s $1,369.60 poorer for me…

and now? now i look like SHIT.

P1040828

i hope the freckles peel off soon. and i know all my colleagues will be wondering what i did to my face while i was on leave.

well… no pain no gain right… *crosses fingers*

argh!

他妈的,IPL 是痛的咯!

I just spent money tp bring pain and ugliness to myself. Hopefully i’ll look better in a couple of days… Pain…… Boohoo…

new hobby

Filed under: choo, misc fun — kerensa @ 11:52 pm

it’s mid week already! this week didn’t pass too slowly after all. i’m saying this only because i am on leave tomorrow! wahahaha… so it feels like the weekend to me. i love leaves, even if it means a 5% pay cut.

so the agenda tomorrow is to meet jackie for a really girly vainy session. we are heading to an aesthetics medical clinic for a consultation! i’m a little excited to hear how money can make me turn prettier. haha… IPL here i come, and freckles off you go!

but nope, IPL is not my new hobby. my new hobby is… SINGING!

ahem… that sounds so duh right. ok, not singing as in going-to-the-karaoke kind of singing (speaking of karaoke, i still haven’t shared about the new k suites at iluma!) but singing as in singing lessons.

YES! dearest and i finally signed up for singing lessons with music clinic! It’s a hefty $245 per pax for every 4 1.5 hour lessons. Not cheap… but i’m sure it’s worth it because it feels great to see dearest getting all excited over it. haha…

first lesson starts this saturday at 1.30pm, following which we will choose night classes on weekdays. something fun to look forward to especially when work gets tough, right?

oh, and music clinic offers keyboard lessons as well. i’m thinking of signing up for that as well. anyone keen to join me for that?

i’m at a new family karaoke place at iluma, and the place is damn shiok i tell you!
there’s this internet kiosk in every room and you can surf net, play games, go facebook and whatever not. cool!
oh, and there’s webcam and headset here as well!

the price is a little steep but there’s a 70% promo from now till 15 Sep.

took plenty of pictures and will upload once i get home.

ok, back to singing now!

i have a new blog!

Filed under: misc fun — kerensa @ 12:19 am

i’ve created a new blog to share with my dear frens on any developments between dearest and i.
not sharing the url here for now as i have not decided how much details i want to share in the new blog.
but to my handful of close frens, i will send you the url later ok… and you MUST read! cos there’s an announcement there (don’t get excited yet!). see you there!

yippee yeah!

Filed under: misc fun — kerensa @ 12:48 pm

i’m on leave today! long weekend… it’s like, finally.

i’ve been having restless sleeps lately. i dreamt of ghosts, 2 nights in a row. on other nights, i woke up in the middle of the night and felt disturbed. on most nights, i closed my eyes and felt really awake, which is really strange for me cos i’m usually the type who can sleep anywhere, anytime.

but yea! i had a fairly good sleep last night, mostly cos i didn’t have to wake up early today i guess.

so, i’m now contemplating to begin a new blog and i’m ’shopping’ around to decide whether i stay with wordpress or use blogspot.

and then i made a change to this blog! check out the right sidebar! i’ve posted a music video! i heart this song so much… it’s got the unique jam hsiao voice minus the melancholy tune plus cute lyrics. heh! it’s been my ringtone for a while and it’s time to share with all of you! do check it out occasionally ok cos i will be including other songs that i love regularly…

and so dearest is coming over shortly and we will be heading over to the temple to pray to mummy later, together with daddy. then we are heading home again to bathe and then it’ll be a mahjong day (or night, rather) with sheena & jackson! i love being on leave!

not to mention, i’m so looking forward to tomorrow cos it’s the MayDay concert!

so dull

Filed under: misc fun — kerensa @ 4:22 pm

did you notice that this space is so dull nowadays? forget about the reduction in frequency of updates – this space has no pictures anymore!

blame:
- dearest: for not taking pictures with me anymore (not even when we go for short trip!). both of us are getting really complacent…. heh
- jackson: for not passing the photos of ice-skating & penang & whatever else to me! (but he’s busy lar… with school and all)

sigh… so colourless…

welcome to my humble world!

Filed under: misc fun — kerensa @ 9:33 pm

i spotted that there are new readers lately!

hehe… you see, there is a feature in wordpress that tracks the blog’s readership. while it doesn’t show WHO reads it, it shows the number of visits.

so, on 17th & 30th July, there were spikes in the number of visits! my conclusion is that someone new is reading through this space and into the archives as well… so, welcome, whoever you are! i hope i didn’t bore you with the mundane contents!

whoever you are:
if you are a friend, come on, leave a comment… i need to know that i have more friends around!
if you are family, leave a comment, don’t stay hidden!
if you are someone who hates me, leave a comment too! i’ll try to make friend so that you will un-hate me!
if you are a stranger, leave a comment, we can make friends!

LOL.
anyway, whoever you are, hope you drop by again…

updates

Filed under: misc fun — kerensa @ 9:23 pm

the past couple of weeks have been full of ups and downs.

there’s the week where i self-created misery for myself and dearest and i made myself all angry and picked a huge fight with dearest. and then we made up really quickly and the following week was a total bliss. we went to JB and had lots of fun with his pals, i had a long weekend and spent lots of loving time with dearest, and the weekdays passed quickly because dearest often pick me up from work and have dinner with me.

then early this week dearest and i had this huge fight again. once again i turned into this lonely emotional apathetic soul who refuses to talk to her friends and rush home after work to mope and cry herself to sleep at night. things are fine now though.

there’s also the first-in-my-lifetime menses that came early, like 26 days instead of the usual 30 to 32 days. and the strangest thing was it came totally without warning (unless you count the quarrel which dearest would probably attribute it to my emo-ness) – no headache, no sleepiness, no pimples, no cravings, no hunger, nothing. well, there’s the diarrhea, but without the rest of the symptoms, i wouldn’t link it to pms right. and to top it off, this menses came with zero cramps, which, well, should be a good thing but frankly it does worry me a little. even the flow is different. oh well, maybe it’s just the hormones changing as i begin to creep closer to the big 3. maybe it will be here to stay – pain free menses! woohoo!

oh, and there’s good news for the dearest’s friend! Alfred got together with Diana! and he is now quitting smoking, which is great news. as good old faithful friends, we try to help him as much as possible by spending time with him and encouraging him with ice cream and the likes. hehe…

and, oh. i’m like getting so fat, my thighs are getting out of shape (i mean they are not just fleshy, they are distorted in shape!) and my tummy is… huge. so i just started to apply the clarins body shaping creams and hope that i can stick to the regime and see some results eventually. of course, the right way will be to control the fat intake, and start exercising. but aiyah… so difficult! LOL.

and, i’m going to stop now cos there’s durian waiting for me! *talk about slimming down. ha!*

another weekend which passed by too quickly

Filed under: choo, frens, lim, misc fun — kerensa @ 11:54 pm

Friday 10th July

dearest set off to JB with alfred & gang and then picked me after work.
so we went to east coast park lagoon for dinner & beer
then off we went to… Marina Barrage! we wanted to go kite-flying (with a lovely huge lizard kite, courtesy of buck my colleague) but there was absolutely no wind!
what a bummer…

Saturday 11th July

a movie marathon day for dearest & me! FOC! cos we watched dvds at home.

first it was “Departures” – an academy award winning japanese drama

it was a slow movie… but dearest & i weren’t the least bored. because the story is touching. jaslyn, if you feel like dropping some tears, watch this, can borrow from me. nice and touching…

then we watched “Goal III”. dearest & i first caught Goal in the cinema and i absolutely heart Kuno Becker, so we watched Goal II on dvd which wasn’t as good as Goal, yet we still insists to watch Goal III.

but well, Goal III sucks.
firstly, Kuno Becker is no longer as handsome. because now he has hair
secondly, Kuno Becker is no longer the main lead. though his has the most exposure in the poster
thirdly, one of the main character died. just like that.

sucks. bad movie. thank god we caught it on dvd and not in the theatre.

so after 2 movie marathon, we went out to dinner and dearest braved the rain to ta-bao durians back home.

back home, we watched another movie! “12 Rounds”!

hmm… actually this is the second time we are watching this show. the first time, we fell asleep like 5 minutes into the show. it’s not a bad movie really… your typical action movie, like speed. but i have to admit i fell asleep again, and during the most exciting part! so… you can deduce for yourself how nice the show is.

so yeah… 3 movies in 1 day! wahaha… really no life huh?
it wasn’t that bad, really. lazing around at home…

Sunday 12th July

First things first.

daddy: what did you 2 eat last night?
me: huh? durians. why?
daddy: wah… damn smelly! it’s so smelly it woke me up. didn’t you hear me waking up to get air freshener?
me: LOL

funny daddy…

so dearest and i met up with jackson for some sports. i was the one who was kpo to suggest cycling followed by swimming. worse still, just as we were turning into east coast park, i suggested to cycle to changi coast road, cos it seems like the in thing to do – every now and then on the way to work i will see many cyclist along the long long road.

and i had to suffer from my words.

so we started from macdonalds. once i got seated on the bike, i knew it will be a bad ride. the seat is damn hard! butt hurts!

i won’t go into details but the ride was really really torturous. i was a bad cyclist to begin with – as in, my sense of balance is bad. i could cycle straight, but i can’t make a good turn. if i ever need to u-turn, i will need to stop and turn the bike around myself, on my legs. and i was always tensed up cos i was afraid of falling.

so, imagine a tensed up body, resulting in aching hands and wrists, cycling like… what… 10km?
ok, i dunno how long the distance is, really… but from macdonalds to changi coast road (somewhere before the changi exhibition center… i couldn’t endure far enough to changi exhibition center), and then back again… it must be like….. DAMN far, isn’t it?

anyway, i gave up. on our way back to return the bike, i gave up just before the bedok jetty. dearest had to ride his own bike and hold mine at the same time, while i walked to the food centre to wait for him to come and pick me up in his car.

wahahaha…

am i a loser or what? dearest couldn’t stand me. he thought i was being a baby. ha…
oh and did i mention that i couldn’t balance myself at one point and ended up scratching the back of my knee a little.
jackson was worse… we left him alone for a period of time cos i absolutely had to rest and i guess he was too bored alone, so he did a mini stunt to entertain himself and lost his balance and jumped off the bike. heard he scratched his leg & hand.

i think jackson will never want to cycle when i’m around. ever. hahaha…

after cycling, dearest & i went to soak in the pool at nik’s place. it was… SHIOK…

and then we met up with alfred & nik and had dinner… and then they decided to catch crabs. and guess what? for the first time, i volunteered to go home instead of joining them. tired… too tired… and my butt hurts…

i hope the gang is having fun right now… and now that i have completed this week’s task (of blogging!), maybe i can watch grey’s anatomy now? just 1 episode before i go to bed… just to satisfy my ‘craving’? yes?

yes. season 3 here i come! yippee!!!

somebody, pls save me

Filed under: misc fun — kerensa @ 12:34 am

by throwing out my dvd player.

i’m living in a grey world. Meredith’s world. And it’s so darn unhealthy, emotionally.

Dearest baby, do u remember our first few months together? Hanging out at neighbouring void decks late at night, and having the worst panic attacks of our lives every other night, just because we felt so right for each other, yet felt so wrong to be together?

Do you remember how u described to me then – your panic attacks when you were just a little child? And how the attacks miraculously ‘infects’ me as well? Just like how twins know what each other is thinking of. That’s how connected we were.

And just for the record, my panic attacks are exclusive to you and you alone. Before I met you, I never knew wat a panic attack was, not even during stressful times like major exams. I’m not complaining though because I like being in your embrace when such episodes happened. Just dun let it get to me in my dreams, because then you will not be by my side to coax me back to sleep.

Oh right, why did I talk abt this? Because tonight meredith had a panic attack and mcdreamy was there to calm her down. Just like how u will hug me and soothe my uncontrollable sobs away.

Meredith’s attack was triggered when she had to ‘kill’ an elderly patient against her will, and to make it worse, watch her die over a few hours. Brings back painful memories of how daddy n I watch mummy take her last painful breath. And till this day i’m glad you were there.

The real reason for Meredith’s outburst? She was thinking abt her sick mum, worried that she’s going to die a lonely death. Meredith sobbed hard, and I dropped two huge tears, one in each eye.

Then there was the bomb, the childbirth, the brain surgery, the love, the unloved, the heart attack, and more. Too much… Too much to process, too much to think abt.

Damn, grey’s anatomy is poison. my kind of poison.

Watch out House, Grey might take over you! For now, my stubborn faithfulness stays… For now…

And no, dun throw out my dvd player pls… Cannot afford to have withdrawal symptoms.

I had a new hairdo today. Dearest obviously didn’t like it much. But he tried hard to show otherwise.

While checking out my new hairstyle (again), he smiled and said: “who would have imagined that we will be together when we first met 9 years ago?”

Indeed amazing isn’t it? And it warms my heart so… that dearest will recollect the past…

Love.

beers!

Filed under: colleagues, misc fun — kerensa @ 2:31 pm

last night we had a mini farewell party for edward at charlie’s corner at aroozoo. correction: edward organized the farewell party for himself (his treat!)

just a few days ago dearest and i walked past the changi village’s charlie’s corner with alfred and we saw erdinger. we both love erdinger, so i was mentally telling myself that i’m so going to have an erdinger during the farewell.

but when i saw the menu last night, i changed my mind. cos i saw little creatures!

dearest and i tried little creature when we were at wild rocket for my birthday dinner. i just did my lasik then so i couldn’t drink. but i took a sip anyway and i loved it! it has this pleasant refreshing taste to it.

and look at the label – an angel… so cute right!

so last night i ordered little creature. ah siong (friend of edward – dunno whether he is the owner or not but he definitely calls the shots there) who is an avid beer drinker, wasn’t tat impressed with my choice and tried to recommend other beers. but i was insistent – the beer was meaningful to me! hahaha… and ah siong said little creature is made from lychee**. so that’s where the refreshing taste came from.

good beer for me!

before they served me the little creature, i had a sip of this ‘girly’ beer (only 4% alcohol content!)

and it was. NICE! it comes in a series of different fruity flavours. i tried the grape first and because the alcohol content was so low, i thought it was just sparkling juice! so when i finished the little creature, i had the raspberry flavoured timmermans. woohoo! nice…

perfect beer for those who didn’t want to get high/drunk. hehe…

after drinking 2 bottles, the alcoholic guys wanted to make me drink another bottle again. i refused (why get myself so drunk on a weekday?) and the next thing i know, someone placed a glass of bubbly drink in front of me. i refused to drink until ah siong quietly told me “non-alcoholic”… haha… and so i drank it, and everyone else thought it was some cider beer. woohoo…

must go there again and try other beers next time. heard that can get discount.

**[edited]: J sent me a link to the Little Creatures showing its range of beers. And, no! it’s not lychee… argh… cheated. LOL. must try the pale ale next time…
